Some of my projects
- Vehicle Counting Algorithm
This project aims to count every vehicle (motorcycle, bus, car, cycle, truck, train) detected in the input video using YOLOv3 object-detection algorithm. The algorithm is a combination of Detection, Tracking, and Counting.
2. Vision Perception Algorithm – Implemented a vision perception algorithm to detect, recognize and track multiple objects in a video stream or live video. This project is useful for autonomous vehicles and robotics as a perception engine to help detection and recognize objects in the surrounding.
3. Toll Road Traffic Prediction – Using a dataset from PeMS, I implemented a machine learning based Toll Road Traffic prediction engine using Deep Learning. The aim of the project was to use three widely used algorithms to predict toll road traffic, compare the results and find the best performing model.
4. AI based ICAO Compliant Photo Tool – I used deep learning based computer vision algorithm to create a tool that captures human photos from file or webcam, analyse the facial features, check face for ICAO features, remove and replace background and crop the photo according to ICAO standards. This tool was integrated in Sierra Leone’s National Civil Registration Authority’s software used for the Verification and Confirmation exercise
5. Automatic License Platform Recognition – Used machine Learning algorithm to develop a model for vehicle number plate recognition. I ported the model to android and developed mobile app which serves as a scanner or camera for taking images of number plates from video streams. This project was done in 2015 as my final computer science project for BSc (Hons.) Computer Science.
6. Open Sourced Identity Verification Software – In 2020, I started the OpenIDNet project where I developed the OpenIDNet platform used for identity verification/authentication and cross-border data sharing. The system was used by the Government of Sierra Leone in 2021 to carry out a nationwide exercise that gives citizens and non-citizens resident in Sierra Leone to confirm, update their Civil Registration and Identity records held at the NCRA.
7. CoronaInfo Platform (for COVID-19) – In January 2020, I developed a covid-19 analysis, visualization and information platform that shares credible information about covid-19, gives Realtime case updates and analysis and enables the public to report suspected covid-19 cases in their communities in Sierra Leone. It also helps to do self test covid-19 test based on symptoms experienced
8. Corruption Tracker (Yuki-Yuki Tracker) – Now expanded to become the Sierra Leone’s famous corruption tracking and reporting tool called the Pay No Bribe (PNB web and mobile App www.pnb.gov.sl ), I developed Corruption Tracker (aka Yuki-Yuki Tracker) in 2013/2014 to help track and report corruption cases in Sierra Leone for the Anti-Corruption Commission of Sierra Leone ACC. This project won the first place in Datathon competition organized by the BudgIT Nigeria and the Campaign for Good Governance (CGG) in Sierra Leone, in collaboration with Transparency International (TI). I was featured and interviewed on Sierra Leones State Broadcasting Television where I explained to the public the use case and importance of the tool.
9. JusTrack – in 2015 Developed a justice tracking and case management system for the Judiciary of Sierra Leone. This project won two awards as the best project, and the best justice solution in a Hackathon organized by the Ministry of Information and Communication in collaboration with the Right to Access Information Commission of Sierra Leone.
10. Adverts.sl – the First Digital Marketplace in Sierra Leone – Online market information system and ecommerce platform where buyers and sellers connects for business transaction.
11. AutLearn – Digital Learning Platform During Covid-19 – Proof of Concept and MVP for eLearning platform for Njala University to enable delivering of online classes to engage students during covid global pandemic and lockdown.
12. Media Monitoring Software – I developed a software used by Airtel Sierra Leone and other institutions like Caritas, UNDP etc to monitor and track the way their media adverts are played by the various radio stations paid to air their slots. Automated Waste Management Information System – I developed an SMS based Management Information system platform to help the Freetown City Council to manage wastes, notify waste disposal service providers and help waste owners request for services using sms and app etc.
13. Research on Opensource EHMS system (OpenMIS) – worked with two PhD researchers to developed, customize and explore/investigate the use of OpenMIS opensource software in Health in Sierra Leone at the Njala University Teaching Hospital.
14. Certificate of Registration and Citizenship (NIN Certificate) – At a time when the Old National ID Card was discontinued and the country was in dire need of identity document to help them get access to services in the country and beyond, I develop and quick but robust application that generates a secured temporal certificate (valid for 90 days) which has been in use since 2018 to date as a quick fix to identity card and document issues in Sierra Leone. This certificate is the only document used today in Sierra Leone in space of National ID Card. It contains information similar to what can be found on a National Identity cards including the powerful National Identification Number assigned to every resident in Sierra Leone. When the National ID Card is ready (probably in 2022), the NIN certificate will be discontinued.
15. Online NCRA Certificates Issuance System –
16. Lotto Winning Number Generator – Using appropriate date structures, I developed an algorithm and system to generate raffle numbers and forecast lotto winning numbers in 2011
17. Cadestre Management System – in 2015/2016, I worked as a Software engineer for FAO to develop and customize the Open Sourced Solution for Open Land Administration System (SOLA) for Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Lands, environment and country planning.
18. Photo Puzzle Game – in 2011, I developed a photo/image-based puzzle game using .net
19. Virtual WiFi Router – in 2009/2010, I developed a piece of light weight software that turns any internet connected computer that has wireless card into a shared wireless router and share internet connectivity with others.
20. Nation Policies and Legal Framework –
